Jazz Festival in New Orleans Fashion

Jazz Feastival

I am headed to Jazz Fest in New Orleans on Thursday and wanted to share this New Orleans inspired post for my trip. New Orleans is the perfect city to wear a bit of lace and old fashioned jewelry. But walking around all day you need a good pair (and of course stylish shoes). And last but not least some cut-offs and a rock and roll style bag with fringe and a long strap that won't get in the way when you are dancing in the streets.

Shown: Butterfly Lace Frill Hem $65 Topshop, Antik Batik Bongo Bag $320 Net-a-Porter, Gap Destructed jean shorts $25, Narciso Sunglasses - Roberto Cavalli $285 Forzieri.

WHY?

Can't lie, 2-3 years ago I would've went crazy over these but with all the fusion madness going on you gotta ask yourself, "why JB why?"

Michelle O. on the Cover of Conde Nast Traveler...

The first lady is quite the cover girl for May. For its May 2010 issue, Michelle Obama is the first first lady to grace the cover of Conde Nast Traveler (history!). In the story by contributor David Michaelis, Mrs. Obama talks about D.C. date nights, her favorite local spots, and how she gave her daughters a crash course in American history.

On Her Washington Experience:

"That is probably the most awe-inspiring time, because you're in the Presidential motorcade," which even on a date night can choke three city blocks "and you're sort of like, 'Are we in this? Who's here?' And it's us. And you pull up at night to the South Lawn and everything is lit up: That White House with that light shining...and you think, This is my house. This is where we live. Kind of cool. It's beautiful. And while I enjoy the time I spend with my husband -- it's a good way to end the evening."

"I would love, and so would the President, to be able to walk up and down the Mall, not at night but in the middle of the day, when there are millions of people there, and experience it in the way that you're used to experiencing it. I want to get on the Metro." She'd like to go out for a quick bite, but she can't. "It's like, 'Okay, we're going to that restaurant, and everyone's going to get mad, 'cause I'm there eating my hamburger.' People are excited, but" she says somewhat abashedly, "you sort of feel like, 'Ohhhh..."

Read more on the first lady's quest to make the White House more accessible, on her determination to expose her children to American History first-hand, on what she thinks of a few of her predecessors, and on some of the Obama's favorite Washington D.C. hot spots over at The Huffington Post.

What to Wear Now: Spring Scarves

My favorite thing to accessorize with right now is a light weight gauzy scarf. It adds just a bit of coziness on a chilly spring morning and looks chic throughout the day. For inspiration I thought I would share these images by Madewell 1937. I think they did a good job pairing scarves with these spring time looks.

Michelle O's Parents Didn't Think They Would Last...

First Lady Michelle Obama's brother, Oregon State basketball coach Craig Robinson is releasing a memoir this month.

The book, "A Game of Character," which has a foreword by their mother, Marian Robinson, is due out April 20.

Craig Robinson writes that he and his parents didn't think Barack Obama stood much of a chance with his sister when they met him.

He and his parents were out on their porch on a hot summer night in Chicago when the couple stopped by to say hello on their way to a movie.

"Well, he's tall," Marian Robinson said while Obama was out of earshot.

"Not a bad-looking guy, either," said her husband, Fraser.

But even though the suitor struck the Robinsons as a self-possessed man with a nice smile and firm handshake, they figured he wasn't a keeper. "Too bad," Marian said. "Yep," Fraser answered. "She'll eat him alive."

LOL. That's going to be an interesting read. Continue reading this article HERE.

Swimsuits by Volcom

As the weather gets nicer (almost 70 here in NYC today) my thoughts turn to the beach. And what I need this summer is a kick-ass bathing suit. What I look for in a bathing suit; #1 it has to be flattering, #2 not too skimpy, #3 I have to be able to be active in it paddle tennis, swimming, volleyball etc. I recently came across the Volcom swimsuits from their new summer line. Here are two of my favorites from the collection. I really like this black one-piece. Sometimes one pieces can be too conservative especially in the back, covering up too much area. This one-piece by Volcom though has a really adorable back with criss-cross straps and just the right amount of coverage in the front as well. And I really like the geometric interest of the two different strips on this two-piece. Although you can also get a matching small striped bottom if you prefer. Check out the collection on Volcom for more styles.
